Citing a series of fiscal challenges, Algonquin College has regretfully decided to shut down its Perth campus as of 2026. Heading into 2025, the post-secondary institution is facing a multi-million dollar deficit, largely fueled by federal caps on international students and provincial funding shortfalls. Perth Mayor Judy Brown says Thursday’s decision caught her by surprise, and she now fears that the College’s pending closure could cause a huge ripple effect within the small town.
