In just a few short days, the official replacement for ex-councillor Georges Darouze will be named. This past February, Darouze left his post at Ottawa City Council after claiming victory for Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives. One of the 11 byelection candidates gunning for votes in Monday’s race is Peter Scott Westaway, who is running a single-issue campaign and publicly admits he is on the outside looking in. But regardless of the final outcome, he is aiming to address the ‘overwhelming geographical flaws’ of Ottawa’s Greenbelt, making a series of commitments to improve the site if elected.
