An author from British Columbia has won a Governor General’s Literary Award. The book, which is called Five Little Indians, also took home the Amazon Canada First Novel Award. It traces the journey of five residential school survivors in East Vancouver who are trying to rebuild their lives and confront their pasts. Michelle Good, however, says her creative accomplishment has taken a back seat following the horrific discovery in Kamloops last week. Canada closed down 15 residential schools during the 1990’s and the final site didn’t cease operations until 1998. After the Senate unanimously created a national day for Truth and Reconciliation, what needs to be done moving forward in order for our country to move on from this dark chapter? Michelle joins Andrew Pinsent in today’s edition of CFRA Live.
