A growing number of Ontario politicians have spent countless hours advocating for a way to dismiss city councillors for inexcusable behaviours, actions that range from frequent Code of Conduct violations to harassment of staff members. Today, they are feeling a mixture of relief and frustration with the Doug Ford government, as the province tabled a last-minute government bill this week. Ontario Liberal MPP Stephen Blais had previously made two attempts to pass a private member's bill to address this issue, but to no avail. Does the Municipal Accountability Act cut the mustard, or has it become far too politicized to yield positive results? CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent digs deeper with Harini Sivalingam, the Director of the Equality Program at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association.
