CFRA Live - CFIB says Trump tariffs are a gut-punch for small businesses on both sides of the border

View descriptionShare

U.S. President Trump is preparing to implement 25 percent tariffs on Canadian-made products by Tuesday morning. The Canadian Federation of Independent Business is calling his executive orders ‘deeply disappointing’, warning both Canadians and Americans that these taxes will hit small businesses hard. Here in Canada, over half of the country’s small businesses are involved in either importing or exporting directly with the United States, and those who are operating on razor-thin margins will have no choice but to raise prices. This, in turn, could fuel an even weaker consumer demand. Corinne Pohlmann is the Executive Vice-President of Advocacy for the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. She joins Andrew Pinsent on CFRA Live.
