More than 40 employees at Kanata-based Best Theratronics Ltd. went on strike May 1st, and they are still on the picket lines today. The company manufactures external beam radiation therapy units, self-contained blood-irradiators, and cyclotrons - often used for patients undergoing cancer radiation therapy. Earlier this week, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission served Best Theratronics with orders confirming the company is not in compliance with its license conditions, requiring a financial guarantee for decommissioning.
