The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, affectionately known as CHEO, has become a beacon of hope for Ottawa’s youngest patients. Every year, on the first weekend of June, Canada’s Capital beats as one during the CHEO Telethon, as residents and volunteers rally together for the 42nd time later this afternoon. This lifeline has led to several success stories, such as 13-year-old Mikayla. She suffered a stroke in utero and was originally placed into palliative care. After surviving the pregnancy, she was only expected to live for a few hours. She defied the odds 13 years ago, and her heart beats on to this day. Katelyn Brennan, Mikayla’s mother, joins Andrew Pinsent on CFRA Live.
