Central Queensland has officially been given the green light for Rockhampton to host the rowing and canoeing events for the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games following a technical review of the Fitzroy River.

The announcement has sparked calls for local infrastructure improvements - including flood mitigation, highway repairs, and rail upgrades - as planning and design work for the venue ramps up ahead of the Games.
