A dramatic demonstration of 440 shoes at Parliament House has highlighted Australia's worsening child protection crisis, where the number of active foster carers has fallen by 21% since 2017.

Families Australia CEO Suzanne Greenwood joined Shane Doherty on 4BC Mornings to warn that without urgent support and practical reforms like a "passport to care," thousands more vulnerable children will be forced into high-cost residential care.
