Former Premier Campbell Newman joined Jason Matthews on 4BC Mornings to fiercely criticise the construction of a new 65,000-seat stadium at Victoria Park, labelling it a costly "act of barbarism" that destroys precious green space.

Newman argues that alternative sites like Hamilton North Shore were politically ignored, warning that the project will inevitably blow out to $7 billion and gridlock access to the nearby Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
