Toowoomba has kicked off its 77th Carnival of Flowers by obliterating a world record, gathering 1,546 locals at Queens Park dressed as native Toowoomba violets.

Regional Councillor James O'Shea joined the show to share how the community smashed Malta's previous record by over 600 people and to unpack the powerful historical tribute behind their chosen costume.
