The Queensland Ambulance Service has a new life-saving device that most people don't know about.
The Mechanical Chest Compression Device helps perform CPR on patients as they are transported to a hospital.
QAS Acting Director for Patient Safety and Quality Adam Rolley told Shane Doherty on 4BC Summer Drive, "Paramedics in Queensland are all extremely well trained and can perform just about all of the same procedures that can occur in hospital."
"But, sometimes we do need to transport that person to hospital to ensure that they have the best opportunity to survive and this machine helps us do that."
