In the wake of making it illegal for homeless people to own a pet and for anyone to be publicly sleeping in vans or cars, the Moreton Bay City Council has hired private security to help protect council workers on clean-up duties.
The founder of Nourish Street, a food collection and distribution service for those in need, Beau Haywood told Shane Doherty on 4BC Summer Drive, "The new council bylaw that has come in has driven a lot of people out."
"I guess the council may have feared a bit of backlash from that."
"I've had an associate that has contacted the council asking to provide instances of where staff have been allegedly threatened and they've just responded back with a generic statement with no concrete proof," Mr Haywood said.
