Firm Foundations is a social enterprise that began earlier this year, aimed at unlocking underutilised land to build affordable housing.

CEO of Firm Foundations, Rebecca McDonald, told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "little bits of empty land that have just been kind of forgotten and unused... they're sitting in every suburb."

"We need to rethink housing and bring in different options. We have hundreds of thousands of spare rooms in this country. We've got pensioners with spare rooms that they would love to rent out to help support themselves on a week-to-week basis. But they can't." McDonald continued.
