Energy Minister Chris Bowen has temporarily relaxed Australia's fuel standards, releasing 100 million litres of high-sulphur fuel to combat supply issues linked to the Middle East conflict.

Motor Trades Association Institute Director Marcelo Rios joined Dean & Sofie on 4BC Breakfast to warn that while short-term use won't cause immediate engine failure, it can degrade engine oil and block diesel particulate filters over time.
