Now let's move along. There's plenty happening around the place. It has been a packed show this morning and it continues right now because the countdown is on, with Christmas now just days away, and it's a mad dash for the organizer of Operation Secret Center Aged Care NT, who is on a mission to make sure that older Territorians have a gift to open on Christmas Day, Tory Cole star Will. She started this initiative about nine years ago to spread Christmas cheer to those in aged care who can often be forgotten in festivities after a first hand experience with her only family members in aged care facilities interstate. And she joins me on the line right now. Good morning to you, Tory.

Good morning Katie Tory.

Where are things at? How many gifts do you still need?

Well, we've already done over a thousand gifts. We've shipped out one thy and twelve presents already to the entire of Central Australia, the Catherine East Arnham Big Daily regions. So now we're working on the Greater Darwin Region and West Arnham and West Daily and we still have six hundred and twenty one present to distribute before Christmas Eve. We need about five hundred and seventy of those to be packed this weekend.

So do you still need about five hundred and seventy donations?

Yeah, we still do need donations. So my biggest daughter is actually out today in the bus driving around all the donation points and picking up what's been dropped off in the last week. But we are just putting one last call for help out for territory and to help us get it over the line.

Oh Tory, have they dug deep so far?

It sounds like they have a thousand presents. We've packed one thousand presents already. So last year we packed fourteen hundred presents. The entire project we've already packed in MOUs and like I said, I think all in total we need about six hundred and twenty one more to go. But we've still got some presence packed over at CWA ready. So it's just one one last push and we can hopefully get this over the line by Christmas Eve.

All right, Well, we've got to make it happen. You know, this is for our beautiful territory. Considerin aged care facilities.

Right, yeah, absolutely, so, not only those that are in the facilities, but also those that are in home aged care, which can have its own challenges and isolations as well. So we're trying to make sure that no one's left fined.

And so what's been the reaction, as you know, as some of those gifts have now been delivered to different areas, what's been.

The reaction gratitude? People are really really grateful. A lot of the organizations that go around to the homes in particular drop them off when they drop their food meal packs off and yeah, overwhelmingly the feedback is always positive and no different this year. People are just really really grateful and really surprised that someone took the time to think of them. And that's on Territory and Territorians have done this through their donations and through helping provide goods and monetary donations to make it happen.

So it is a beautiful thing that you facilitate every year to make sure that there are gifts. Tory talk us through exactly what you need at this point and where people can drop those donations if they're in a position to do so.

Sure, so, we have a full list on our Facebook page of all the donation drop off points. We actually have a new one in the Oasis shopping Center. In the shopping center itself, there's a donation box. Now they've been lovely enough to go out and set that up for me. So if it's after hours, for example, and you're heading into Coals of an evening, you can drop your donations off into the box and they'll be taken and locked away for the night and we'll receive them that way. You can obviously also drop them off at all of the local clp MLAs in the Greater Darwin region. You can drop them off to the George Brown Botanic Gardens, Nightcliff News Agency and the Amcallet Hump you do as well.

And you just really you're after you know, if people want to drop a pressy off, it's you know, it's anything that they might ordinarily give to maybe their grandparents.

Yeah, so we've had things like sets of dominoes and board games, chest sets, toilet trees. You know, your gift packs where they have a hand cream and a nail file and a nail polish, or men's gift packs, men's toilet trees, body washers, bas puffs, flannels, hanky socks, magazines, coloring books, stuff that is practical that can be utilized by the res and yeah, basically, if you'd buy it for your nana and pop, we love it.

Now, if they're able to make a monetary donation, they can do so by heading to you go fund me page as well, can't they.

Yeah, so we're on go fund me under Operation Secret Santa Aged Care NT and if they could pop those monetary donations through, and then our volunteers will go out and buy the buy the products themselves and we'll bag them up on the weekend and hopefully have them all shipped out before the twenty fourth.

Oh, Tory, what you're doing is amazing. It's such a beautiful thing to you know, to organize for those well for those older Territorians. I know that they will greatly appreciate it. So I really hope that over the next couple of days you are able to get all of the donations required.

Thanks so much, Katie, and thanks for your support. And I hope you'll be able to send you an update on the twenty fourth and let you know that we've we've done it for another year.

Please do let us know, keep keep us in the loop. Tory will do. Thank you. Have a lovely Christmas.

Thanks so much for Merry Christmas to everyone, and thank you to everyone who'd helped the project again this year. I couldn't do it without all of the territorianes who donate and a team of helpers who come forward every year and give up their time to make it happen.

Oh good on your Tory. Thank you, thanks so much.
