Every year, between February and April, something controversial happens in Australian supermarkets—the beloved Hass avocado disappears, replaced by the often-misunderstood Shepard. And, like clockwork, the internet erupts in outrage.

However, is it possible the much maligned Shepard Avocado isn’t receiving a fair go?
