The Devil Wears Prada’s Mike Hranica Talks Metalcore’s Rise, ‘Flowers’ & Band Evolution at Aftershock

Chasta and Baby Huey sit down with Mike Hranica of The Devil Wears Prada backstage at Aftershock to discuss the band’s new album “Flowers,” nearly two decades of evolution and watching metalcore become a major part of the modern rock landscape.

Mike admits The Devil Wears Prada never expected the band to become a career when they were starting out — they were simply having fun and expressing themselves. He also reflects on the changing of the guard from an earlier generation of rock toward metalcore and discusses how bands including Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember, Architects and Spiritbox have helped create a different landscape for heavy music. Plus, Mike talks about life on the road, his love of jazz, his earliest metal influences and what music continues to mean to him.
