Summer often feels like a season of high expectations—vacations, adventures, projects, and family memories. But as the season winds down, many of us feel we haven’t “done enough.” Social media only adds fuel, tempting us to compare our experiences with others and leaving us with regret or inadequacy.

This is what we might call summer guilt—the belief that we missed out or didn’t live the season well. But in this evening's prayer and devotional, Jesus reminds us in the parable of the talents that God doesn’t measure us by what others have accomplished. He asks us to be faithful with what He has given us.

Whether your summer looked like rest, busyness, or something in between, you can let go of comparison. God isn’t grading your life against someone else’s highlight reel. He delights in your faithfulness. If you’ve done your best with what you had, then you can rest knowing He is pleased.

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”

🙏 Your Nightly Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of this summer, even if it didn’t unfold the way I hoped. Forgive me for the times I’ve compared my life to others and felt the weight of unnecessary guilt. Teach me to measure myself by Your standards, not by the world’s. Help me to walk in faithfulness with the time, energy, and resources You’ve given me. Tonight, I release my guilt and receive Your grace.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
