For those who struggle with seasonal depression, Isaiah 60:19 holds a promise that reaches all the way to eternity and back into tonight. A time is coming when God Himself will be the everlasting light, when darkness will cease to exist entirely, when even the sun will be unnecessary because Christ has walked into the room. That is not a metaphor. It is the destination of every person who belongs to Him.

And even now, before that day, we carry a glimpse of that light within us through the presence of the Holy Spirit. We are not dependent on favorable circumstances or the right season or enough hours of daylight to have access to His presence. He has come into the world as light, Jesus said, so that no one who believes in Him should stay in darkness.

That does not make seasonal depression disappear or the heavy evenings feel light overnight. But it does mean that even in the dim seasons, even when everything feels dark and heavy, we are not left without light. We are not navigating this alone. And the darkness, however real it feels tonight, does not have the final word.

He is with you in this. Even here.

Ponder Tonight

Seasonal heaviness and the emotional weight of darker months are genuine experiences that deserve acknowledgment rather than dismissal. God meets us in those specific and real struggles, not only in our spiritual darkness.

The promise of Isaiah 60:19 is not only a future comfort. It reframes the present by reminding us that our light source is not the sun or our circumstances but God Himself, who is constant and everlasting regardless of the season.

Jesus came into the world as light specifically so that those who believe in Him would not have to remain in darkness. That promise is active and present, not only future.

Looking back at moments when God's light pierced through a dark season before is one of the most grounding practices available to us when the darkness feels thick. That evidence is worth returning to.

Your Evening Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Right now we are feeling dark and heavy. As the seasons change, the sadness and weariness press in. Tonight, please be our light. We invite Your presence into the darkness and ask You to be our guide. We release our fear, anxiety, and loneliness to You, trusting that You are with us even here.

Remind us that we are never without Your light, even in the dimmest seasons. And help us rest in Your presence tonight, knowing that the darkness does not have the final word.
