The Odyssey existed in a world filled with Gods, most of whom survived the collapse of the Mycenaean civilisation to be integral to the world that is still forming. We then move from the lofty heights of Mount Olympus to the world of man as we discuss the epic poem's journey from the Greek Dark Ages to the early Augustan Roman Empire.
