A day after agreeing to a debate with former President Donald Trump in June, President Joe Biden isn’t waiting to start attacking his expected 2024 opponent.

During an interview with Audacy’s The Big Tigger Morning Show on V-103 in Atlanta, the President decided to take aim at Trump while discussing the upcoming election. When asked about what was at risk in the upcoming election, Biden said he thinks “our very democracy is at stake.”

The president hammered this home by sharing Trump’s record, specifically around the 2020 election and his continued denial of the election results. Biden then placed the blame on Trump for the Jan. 6 riots.

“This is a guy who, you know, encouraged an insurrection on Jan. 6. An insurrection [that] attacked the right to vote,” Biden said, adding that Trump also wants to pardon those responsible.

When it comes to the differences between Biden and Trump, the President said that they both have a “fundamentally different view of America,” with Trump’s being “all about hate and retribution.”

When Biden was asked what he would do for Black voters that Trump wouldn’t, the President shared his record and said that voters needed to remember who his opponent was. “Remember who Trump is. He falsely accused the Central Park Five.… He tried to repeal Obamacare the first time. Now he’s promised to [do] even more damage to Black people,” Biden said.

In contrast, the President boasted about his efforts to deliver stimulus checks, create jobs, cancel student debt, and help Black families.

Biden also touched on Trump’s more dangerous rhetoric concerning ongoing global conflicts like the Ukraine war. The President alleged that Trump would not be supportive of the nation’s allies if he were President, saying he would allow them to be invaded.

“If a country that we have an alliance with is not paying what he thinks is their fair share for their own defense, he tells Putin just go ahead and invade,” Biden said.
