Guests: Pam Atwood- Gerontologist and Christy Kovel with the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

Subject: Alzheimer's Disease. Christy says new legislation recently became law in Connecticut that will help people with Alzheimer’s. It adds dementia training to continuing curriculum of physicians and nurses. It will help doctors and nurses recognize the symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease. It is an opportunity for physicians and nurses to learn more about Alzheimer’s, but it is not required. Christy says it is important when people prepare to go to the doctor's office. She says it is very important to fully disclose of there are memory changes that are impacting daily life. Connecticut has he 6thn oldest population in the United States and age remains the primary factor for Alzheimer's Disease. The Walks to End Alzheimer's come up in the fall, they are the biggest fundraisers of the year for the Alzheimer's Association. There will be 7 walks in Connecticut including one at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
