Guest: Dr. Sabrina Rebis-American Family  Urgent Care.
Subject: Lyme Disease. Dr. Rerbis says Lyme Disease is a bacterial infection contracted from the bite of an infected tick. The number of ticks infected with Lyme Disease has increased from 27 percent to 38 percent in the last year. She says the first 30 days after a tick bite are critical. Lyme Disease can be difficult to diagnose and if left untreated can lead to life-long health problems, so prevention is of utmost importance. To protect oneself from Lyme Disease, Dr. Rebis suggests reducing exposure to ticks, avoid wooded and brushy areas with high grass and leaf litter.
