Subject: Age Discrimination in the Workplace. Jonathan says congress made it illegal in 1967 with the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, it applies to employers that have at least 20 employees. He says age discrimination is illegal at any stage of employment including during hiring, promotions, raises and layoffs. The law also prohibits workplace harassment by coworkers, supervisors or clients, because of age. Also prohibited, mandatory retirement age, with a few exemption, such as airline pilots and public safety workers.
