Pilot Swab of Lakeshore wrestling is our WSJM Sports Player of the Week. Pilot is a sophomore at Lakeshore high school and carries a 3.4 grade point average Pilot is the 2025 Division 2 Individual State Champion in the 106 pound weight division.   Pilot went 4-0 over the two day finals at Ford Field in Detroit, winning two matches by pinfall, and two by a decision, including an 8-1 win in the championship match against Tyler Cooper of Plainwell.   Pilot went 45-7 this season.  Pilot also was at the state finals last season where he finished fifth as a freshman.  Pilot is the 28th individual state champion in the history of the Lakeshore wrestling program. We spotlight St. Joe, Our Lady of the Lake, Lakeshore, and Michigan Lutheran Boys Basketball.

Lauer Wright Wright of St. Joseph high girls basketball is our WSJM Sports player of the week. Lauer is a freshman at St. Joseph High School and currently has a 3.8 Grade Point Average. The Lady Bears went 2-0 during the week she was nominated for, in a 46-39 win against South Haven, she had a double double of 20 points, 10 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 assists.  Then later in the week in the Bears 64-35 win over Portage Northern, Lauer had another double double, this time with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 6 steals and 2 assists. Lauer also plays volleyball and soccer at St. Joe, she’s a member of the AP Leadership team, orchestra, plays travel soccer and is a licensed youth soccer referee.  Our WSJM Sports Player of the Week is Lauer Wright of St. Joseph Girls Basketball.

Evan Wilkes of St. Joseph high school wrestling is out WSJM Sports player of the week. Evan is a senior at St. Joe and has a 3.5 grade point average. At the Division 2 team districts. Evan went 2-0 on the day at 132, winning his semifinal match against Edwardsburg, by pin in :21 seconds, and in the final match against Lakeshore, with the Bears needing a pin in the last match of the day to win the final, pinned former state champion Brady Baker of Lakeshore to give the Bears a 31-30 win in the team final. Jaelynn Little of Bangor high school girls basketball is our latest WSJM Sports Player of the Week. Jaelynn is a senior and a team captain for the Lady Vikings team. Bangor went 2-0 during the week, in the Vikings 42-31 win over Hartord, Jaelynn scored 8 points, but added 8 steals,, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, the win ended Bangor’s 15 game losing streak to Hartford. Three days later, Jaelynn scored 16 points and had 9 steals in a 39-33 win against Decatur as Bangor is off to their best start since the 2012-13 season. Carlee Osborn of Marcellus High School Wrestling is our WSJM Sports player of the Week. Carlee is a senior at Marcellus High School and has a 3.7 Grade Point Average. Carlee was perfect on the mat over the last two weeks with a win in the Wildcats dual meet win over Comstock.  In the Marcellus individual tournament, she won first place in her weight class with three wins coming by pin.  Then at the Berrien County Lisa Altman girls tournament, Carlee also came in first place with two wins by pin and a 9-3 win in the championship match, coming back from down 0-3.  Carlee is a member of the National Honor Society, and also plays soccer, is on the sideline cheer team and in the band. The WSJM Sports Player of the Week is Carlee Osborn of Marcellus Wrestling.
