South Bend Cubs vs Quad Cities River Bandits Highlights 5-30-25

View descriptionShare

The South Bend Cubs had the leadoff hitter reach base in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th innings, but managed to score just twice. Both runs came in the top of the 5th, when Cristian Hernandez delivered a two-run single to give the Cubs a 2–1 lead.

Despite the eventual loss, the Cubs flashed the leather throughout the game. In the bottom of the 6th, Andy Garriola came up with a huge outfield assist, gunning down Bryan Gonzalez at the plate after a sharp single by Chris Brito to keep the Cubs in front.

Garriola came through again in the bottom of the 9th with a highlight-reel catch in right field, robbing Colton Becker with a sliding grab for the second out of the inning. Erick Torres then grounded out to third baseman Reginald Preciado, who made a clean throw to first baseman Drew Bowser to end the inning and snuff out a potential River Bandits rally.

However, in the bottom of the 10th, the Cubs couldn’t hold off Quad Cities. With Erick Torres starting the inning as the automatic runner at second, Carter Frederick drew a walk. Torres eventually scored, and the River Bandits walked off the Cubs for the second time in the series.
