You ready to check your feelings at the door?
Check it out? Checking out?
This is am I Reister or am I Row. We're bringing you facts and only the truth. Now, am I reister or am I Row?
Let's talk about five NFL players that are in make or break seasons this year. First up, Kyler Murray. He's already been paid, so this is not about the money. This is about Kyler needing to play superhuman football in twenty twenty three to keep the Cardinals from being in a.
Position to use one of their likely.
Two top ten draft picks in twenty twenty four to replace him. But the problem for Kyler is that he won't be ready to go until at least Week five, coming off of torn acl Murray has been at war with the organization that drafted him for years. Whether it's disagreeing with Steve Comes draft picks, dealing with the front office, leaking things to Chris Mortenson about him having the owner embarrass him with a study clause in his contract, or the extremely contentious contract negotiations themselves. It's always been something. Now he has a new head coach, general managers, rumors are swirling. Courtesy of Mike Lombardy that the Cardinals would be fine to give him the year off to set themselves up to recoup some money via insurance and set themselves up to draft. You know, it is Caleb Williams, baby, But the one person that can throw a monkey wrench in their plans is Kyler Murray. But can he and his fellow short kings Hollywood Brown and Rondell More be enough to flip the organizational plan we got to see about that. Second on this list, though, is the second overall pick from twenty twenty, mister Chase Young. Let's get this out of the way though. Chase Young is not a bust. He was the NFL Rookie of Well, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Pro bowler at.
Twenty one years old.
He's just been injured and for Commanders fans, he's hurt right now as he's dealing with a stinger that he got in the preseason. Now, the Commanders already gave up the rights to its fiftier option, so this is literally make or break contract time for Chase Young. People see running backs tearing acl and come back fully healthy within nine or ten months and expect the same is going to be true for a defensive lineman, it's not the case because they're heavier.
Remember Keith Mallard.
Who went from Defensive Player of the Year in nineteen eighty nine at age twenty seven to only appear in twenty two games the rest of his career. Steve Impman, the first overall pick in ninety two, never started more than nine games in a season and was out of the league by twenty seven because of his knee.
Do you remember Andre Wadsworth.
If you don't, it's because the third overall picking ninety eight draft had a bad need that had him out of the league for good by the end of his third year. I'm rooting for Chase Young, but you can't prove your worth if you can't get on the field. Third up, it's pretty obvious Bears quarterback Justin Fields. No excuses for Phields this year. The Bears went out and got him. DJ Moore and I've said this a b but if more were anywhere other than the Panthers the last couple of years, we'd be talking about him the way we do. Justin Jefferson T. Higgins that kind of guy because he's that good. But you do have to be careful Bears fans, though, because they've been without a quarterback of franchise quarterback for so long that it's their instinct to aggressively protect Phil. I just wish the offensive line in Chicago had that same instinct last year.
Let's be objective.
His completion percentage is low because of that, and if Kyler Murray had justin Field's completion percentage, there would have been no controversy about the study clause and his extension because there would have been no extension.
Now.
Field sack percentage is absolutely off the charts, and it.
Contributes to a high turnover rate.
And one thing I like to say is a man's strengths flow from the same well as as weaknesses. But that being said, it's incredible that an NFL quarterback rushed for almost twelve hundred yards last year, but it also should have never happened and it should never happen again.
If they protect him.
But it might though, because the offensive line outside of the center position is an average age of around twenty four and came from Southern Utah University Charlotte. Then you got Darnelle Wright that was picked last year tenth overall and is.
Starting at right tackle.
For a man who's trying to get a two hundred and fifty million dollar extension. Justin Fields is out there running on a tight rope, but at least the defenses in his division are as collectively as bad as any in the NFL. Fourth up, Mac Jones. Say what you want about Mac Jones, but this is a man that went from following Jalen Hurts and Tua at Alabama to stepping in for the greatest quarterback of all time in New England. He's out there in the world of bright lights, pressure on his shoulders. He's even screaming at assistant coaches to let him throw the damn fall. But Mac hasn't been bad, but he hasn't been good either.
Guy like him.
There's a place in the NFL for him for a very long time. But is that place in New England under Bill Belichick where the standard out there is winning? And the Patriots didn't do very much of that Last year? New England lost four one score games and Mac only has one fourth quarter comeback in thirty one starts. Granted, his ofice coordinator was bad last year, fault of Belichick. And the reality is is that now we're going to be measuring him against his old Alabama teammate too, Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen in six Division games this season. And if he clearly looks like the worst of all four in all six games, what motivation is there for New England to keep this going? The last up is mister Baker Mayfield. Baker probably made enough money off commercials alone not to need a big second contract, But I get the feeling that this man is fueled by something other than money.
Anyway. He wants to stick at to Cleveland.
And Carolina and Colin Coward and Odell Beckham Junior's dad and the guy in the stands calling him a bump. And if he could go back to Oklahoma and plant the flag again, I'm sure he would do that too. But this is Tampa Bay the right place? Is it the right place for his revenge tour? Because after Bruce arians retired, the Bucks went from three straight top three finishes in points score to twenty fifth last year under top both and now Tampa brings in a qbit. It's eight and sixteen in his last twenty four starts, four to three interception ratio that barely completed sixty percent of his passes and his name ain't justin Field. So I don't know if this is going to work out for Baker, but this is make or break.
Let that sink in
