KEY TAKEAWAYS
BEST MOMENTS
‘Gender-based violence takes on many forms: female genital mutilation – although a law has been enacted in Uganda to stop FGM. Though, in general, there seems to be a lack of political will to implement laws here.’
‘56% of women between 15 and 49 have experienced physical violence, the number for men over 15 is 50%. This is too much.’
Traditionally men are the breadwinners, so during Covid, their ability to earn money was taken away and they felt less like men. They’re under immense psychological strain.’
‘People feel bad that they are not earning good wages and it’s compounded by political leaders stealing money.’
