Women from all over the world have contributed to build the society we live in today. But a lot of them do not get the recognition and credit they rightfully deserve.
In this episode, we will be discussing the boldness and bravery of Captain Lakshmi Sahgal from India.
Lakshmi Sahgal was a doctor who treated the poor and also a soldier who was the commanding officer of the first-ever female army regiment in India.
A strong social reformer, Lakshmi was ahead of her time by promoting unity among those separated by religion and caste. Even as a child, she had a spark of rebellion inside her, which she would use as an adult to become a fearless freedom fighter. She joined hands with Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and marched with him to lead India to independence from the brutal and unjust British colonial rule.
Join us, as we uncover and honour the extraordinary life of Lakshmi Sahgal and the massive role she played in the Indian Independence struggle
