This week on Womanity-Women in Unity, in recognition of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated annually on the 8th of March, today’s series takes us around the world, to hear international voices of ambassadors and high commissioners from different countries that have featured on the show. The theme for International Women’s Day this year, is Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world. The Ambassador of Turkey to South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho - Elif Çomoğlu Ülgen, who highlights the power of women with respect to building societies by the way they raise their children. The Ambassador of Norway to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Madagascar and Lesotho – Dr. Astrid Emilie Helle, shares insights into some characteristics of women leaders and perspectives of the nature of societies that chose women leaders as being nations that are equipped to handle a pandemic. The Ambassador of Mexico to South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauricio, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe – Ana Luisa Fajer walks us through highlights from the three main waves of the feminist movement and introduces Mexico’s feminist foreign policy, incidentally the first in Latin America.
