Maria W. Stewart (1803-1879) was a Black woman who defied societal taboos to fight against slavery.  Her passionate speeches and essays furthered the abolitionist movement — and made her one of the first American women to become a public speaker. 

This month, we’re highlighting Ragers: women who used their anger— often righteous, though not always— to accomplish extraordinary things.

These diverse women from across space and time are grouped into easily accessible and engaging monthly themes like Educators, Villains, Indigenous Storytellers, Activists, and many more.  Womanica is hosted by WMN co-founder and award-winning journalist Jenny Kaplan. The bite-sized episodes pack painstakingly researched content into fun, entertaining, and addictive daily adventures.
