Sometimes creating goals is more nuanced than simply writing them down and the steps to get to it. Sometimes we step backwards to go forward, sometimes we step sideways, sometimes we take a long detour that eventually gets us back to our goal. When you get emotionally triggered it’s important to breathe and do some kind of grounding activity to try to shift the emotional energy out of your body. That could be exercise, yoga, talking a walk, doing art, talking to a friend, writing down your feelings on a piece of paper and burning it. Then, imagine you’re achieving that goal. That gets your mind into a state where you start finding creative answers to how you’re going to achieve that goal.
