The Black Crowes Are Reviving Rock n' Roll: An Interview with Pierre Robert

Prior to their incendiary performance at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion, frontman Jonny Hawkins and bassist Dan Oliver sat down for a chat with Pierre Robert and Ryan Shuttleworth backstage. They converse a lot about Nothing More’s latest musical release Carnal which came out on June 28th. The band discusses the importance of still making full albums, how Dolly Parton inspired a track on the record, and presenting Carnal at the MMRBQ in gold-colored vinyl.



The conversation took a philosophical turn when the lads talk about synchronicities, how Alan Watts has become the unofficial mascot for Nothing More (and how Pierre has been trying to escape him) and taking stock at where the band feels they are currently in their lives.

The MMRBQ can be considered a massive rock and roll family reunion for all music lovers in the Philadelphia area. And the warm vibes and friendship was certainly flowing when Pierre Robert sat down backstage with The Offspring's six-string maestro Noodles!

They dove into discussing The Offspring's upcoming 11th studio album Supercharged including some themes of the songs, writing a love letter to Brazilian fans, and how the catchy female voice on the first single Make It All Right came to be.

Noodles and Pierre also chatted about seeing UFOs, Leonard Nimoy's grandson touring with the band, the juxtaposition of playing lighter and heavier songs, and Pierre willing to travel across the globe to hear one specific Offspring track.
