Jersey Calling Kick Off a Spectacular MMRBQ with Brent Porche

The MMRBQ can be considered a massive rock and roll family reunion for all music lovers in the Philadelphia area. And the warm vibes and friendship was certainly flowing when Pierre Robert sat down backstage with The Offspring's six-string maestro Noodles!

They dove into discussing The Offspring's upcoming 11th studio album Supercharged including some themes of the songs, writing a love letter to Brazilian fans, and how the catchy female voice on the first single Make It All Right came to be.

Noodles and Pierre also chatted about seeing UFOs, Leonard Nimoy's grandson touring with the band, the juxtaposition of playing lighter and heavier songs, and Pierre willing to travel across the globe to hear one specific Offspring track.

Moments after their first performance together in over a decade, Philly’s own Silvertide gathered at the broadcast booth at MMRBQ 2024, basking in the glow of what had just transpired.

Nick Perri, Walt Lafty, Brian Weaver, Mark Melchiorre, and Kevin Frank shared their excitement on air with Brent Porche, and traced the moments that led them to the MMRBQ stage. After a long hiatus, when they began tossing around the idea of a reunion, the important stipulation was that it had to be fun. That philosophy, along with sharpening the songs that Philly knows and loves, resonated from the pit to the lawn at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion.

Seeing the band back in action made it feel like we’d turned the clock back to their early 2000s heyday, but with all the experience and soul that comes with many years spent in the industry. What made this reunion even more special was how the band member’s kids were part of the experience for the first time, pointing out that their children barely know that this music was huge a huge part of our lives 20 years ago.

It’s a full-circle moment for Silvertide, who not only celebrated their epic past and their debut album Show & Tell, but are also brewing up new projects, including a holiday show at the TLA and potentially new music on the horizon.

Silvertide Returns at MMRBQ 2024

Coheed and Cambria returned to Philadelphia on August 27th to perform at the Wells Fargo Center. They came as direct support for Incubus who was celebrating their 2001 record "Morning View" by playing it in its entirety.

Before the show at the Big Joint, Claudio Sanchez of Coheed sat down for an extended chat with Ryan Shuttleworth. Claudio discussed the brand new Coheed song they debuted live on tour called 'Blindside Sunny' and confirms the new record is coming soon. "We've had this record now finished for some time so why not try to introduce something earlier ... We're still in the midst of scheduling how songs will come out and how the record will come out." 

Claudio also dove into an update on "The Amory Wars" comic series and when asked about the potential about "The Amory Wars" making it to the silver screen, Claudio believes "Its only a matter of time before".
