38 months after the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in Central Illinois, the declared public health emergency has officially come to an end. Governor JB Pritzker and other state and local leaders marked the occasion with a news conference Thursday at the Sangamon County Public Health Department in Springfield.

Other featured speakers include county public health director Gail O'Neill; Dr. Raj Govindaiah, chief medical officer at Springfield Memorial Hospital; Illinois House Speaker Chris Welch; Sen. Doris Turner (D-Springfield); and more.
