Moon Tunes is back!
After a break for the Riverfest and the July 4th holiday, the event returns for another evening of music and more at La Crosse's Riverside Park.
Terry Bauer joined Kevin Millard, who is filling in for Rick Solem while he's on vacation this week, to talk about the bands and performers, and some of the things that makes Moon Tunes special.
For this Thursday's concert, The Smokin' Bandits and Matt Mahlum Band are under the bandshell.
Everything gets started at 5:30 p.m.
Besides the return of Moon Tunes, Thursday's show is unique in another way with a food drive along with a challenge, said Bauer.
"The Hunger Task Force will be collecting some food and monetary donations. They contacted Rotary Lights and we're also a Rotary Club-Valley View Rotary-and we work in concert with Rotary Lights and other Rotary Clubs. So, we've kind of dropped a challenge to the other clubs to help contribute to the success of the food drive," said Bauer.
If you can't stay for Moon Tunes, Bauer said people are able to drive up and drop off any donations.
During the conversation on La Crosse Talk, Bauer also spoke on the sense of community he sees at Moon Tunes. People of all ages attend. Many sit in the same places week after week.
Moon Tunes runs until 8 p.m.
Performances run through September 11 in Riverside Park.
