Monty Gilbertson in studio helping preview the 20th Annual Chaseburg Area Cancer Walk, which is basically an all-day party that happens Saturday.
The event is titled “20 years of Hope.” Gilbertson says the money brought in will stay local and go toward things like gas and food cards, as well as cancer research in the area.
Over the past 19 years, the event has raised $19 million.
Same day registration begins at 11 a.m. and the event starts up at 4 p.m. with recognition of cancer survivors and the past 19 honorary chairpersons. Becky Nerison, the 2025 honorary chairperson, will share her story. The ceremony ends with survivors leading the first lap. The luminary ceremony is at 6 p.m. and the closing ceremony is at 6:30.
There will be food trucks, homemade soups, a wine cork raffle, a bake sale, a silent auction, a bucket raffle and vendor sales. There will also be kids activities from 1-4 p.m.
People can also get a free raffle ticket simply by bringing a nonperishable food item that will go to local food pantries.
Registration can be done at cacwhope.org. Cost is $25 for adults, $15 for children 17 and under and includes a T-shirt. This was formerly known as the Sole Burner.

Also, the American Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday at the Chaseburg Village Hall. Appointments are encouraged. Call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
