Mac Kiel in studio breaking down La Crosse city government, including the conversation around hiring a city administrator and the stormwater utility bill possibly doubling. Kiel also talks about what it was like being a new city council member, as La Crosse swore in five new people who just went through their first meetings.
We began the show talking a bit about the La Crosse School District going through the process of building a new elementary school at the Hogan Administrative site, as some of those steps are going through committees now.
When it comes to city administrator, our discussion was on how the working group of council members may go to the public for input, after the council put off voting on hiring the position until February.
As for the stormwater utility conversation, that stems from the city putting out a notice that those bills could more than double.
Lastly, in the middle of the show, we did chat — haphazardly — about whether people, who have changed their names, are going to need their birth certificate to register to vote, because of the SAVE Act. But Republicans have actually not passed that bill.
Kiel is a former city council member, who still keeps up on government issues and works with the Homeless Outreach Team.
