La Crosse County administrator, Jane Klekamp, back in studio discussing finalizing the $200 million budget, the situation with a county board member over a social media post, distributing $7 million in opioid settlement money and a potential new $1 fine for marijuana possession.
We also asked Klekamp about the Water Notification Act, a bill Wisconsin Assembly Rep. Jill Billings (D-La Crosse) is trying to get passed, plus her thoughts on the Pathways Home presentation last week and whether the county would go in on an indoor community pool.
One interesting thing we dissected in looking at the 2026 budget being finalized is road funding. The county has taken advantage of federal funding for roads over the past couple of years, but that could end this year.
