It took 25 years for this Story to be Told

Just days before the attacks of September 11th, two married couples from the Midwest were busy pulling off a lighthearted surprise. They’d planned a night in Minneapolis — dinner at Buca di Beppo, and then a special gift: tickets to see Tony Bennett and K.D. Lang, who were touring after the release of their duet album in 2001. The reveal came right at the restaurant table, delivered by Stephanie, a waitress in on the secret. The stunned husband was handed the envelope, and the group spent the night wrapped in stories, laughter, and the kind of music Bennett and Lang made famous — warm, elegant, unmistakably American. It was a perfect evening. And then, two days later, the world changed.
