From Mt. Kilimanjaro to biking coast-to-coast, Jaehnke rides for Aptiv

View descriptionShare

Jay Jehnke kicks off his ride from Aptiv in La Crosse to Portland, Maine to raise money for those with disabilities — A mission that has taken on new meaning for the 67-year-old, after his grandson was born with a rare genetic disease. Jaehnke joined La Crosse Talk on Wednesday, as we got to know his motivation for helping those with disabilities, which has included all kinds of adventure. Jehnke talks about his climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, biking from Seattle to La Crosse’s Aptiv in 2017 and trekking the Ice Age Trail — all to raise money and awareness for those with disabilities. Jaehnke continues that journey, beginning the second half of his cross-country bike tour at 8 a.m. Thursday from Aptiv in La Crosse — don’t worry, he’s got a mountain bike to get through the construction. While raising funds for those with disabilities has always been important for Jaehnke, who’s been with Aptiv in different capacities for three decades, completing this ride might mean a bit more. The goal for the next month is to raise $100,000. And, without even pedaling a block, Jaehnke’s halfway there.
