On La Crosse Talk on Wednesday, Tena Bailey, the Executive Officer of the La Crosse Area Builders Association, and Becky Dagendesh, the Chair of the Build My Future, joined Kevin Millard to discuss how the program gives high school students hands-on opportunities to explore skilled trades. This is the fourth year of the program, held at the end of April at the Omni Center in Onalaska. More than 1,600 students are signed up from schools in a five-county region for this year's event. Bailey said that while not every student who attends goes on to a career in the skilled trades, the day gives them an appreciation for those professions. It also provides them with some skills they may have to use someday as homeowners themselves.
