Bethany Poellinger tells her story of being diagnosed and surviving breast cancer. She's this year's Steppin' Out In Pink advocate.
Poellinger's story sounds unique, because she was diagnosed with breast cancer just a few months after being checked for it.
Saturday is the 20th year of Steppin' Out In Pink, which begins at 9 a.m. at Riverside Park in downtown La Crosse.
The money raised through the event stays local to help with various causes, including things as simple as gas cards to help people pay to get to and from treatment to funding breast cancer research right here in La Crosse.
Through the first 19 years, the event has raised over $7 million. This year, they're hoping to bring in $500,000 — breaking last year's record of $443,000.
