The New York Times says Sylvia Bloom died in 2016 at the age of 96...she took the subway every day to her job with the firm Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen, and Hamilton where she worked for 67 years. Her husband, a New York City firefighter, died in 2002.
The bulk of her fortune is going to the Henry Street Settlement, where her niece is the treasurer.
