Where Is My Mind?Where Is My Mind?

#53 Not Broken, Just Human With Lucy Johnstone

View descriptionShare

In this episode, Niall speaks to clinical psychologist Lucy Johnstone, co-author of the 'Power Threat Meaning Framework' with Mary Boyle. The framework acts as an alternative to psychiatric diagnosis and offers a new perspective on why people may experience different types of distress, without giving medical labels. Niall and Lucy discuss the reasoning behind the framework, the core principles and how they're implemented and how it applies to Niall's own journey.

Both the framework and it's authors have been subjected to backlash, although they've also received a huge amount of support and respect from their peers. The framework has been used successfully in Ireland through youth mental health service Jigsaw.
