The Normal-based nonprofit aims to protect the watershed in the Upper Mackinaw River Valley. That includes northern McLean County and Woodford County. The foundation owns some property, maintains natural areas along the river, including trails and woodlands and their ecosystems.

But if they have to make that assessment over and over again, they may be desensitized to the risk.

Illinois was awarded $768 million in a multistate settlement with Meta over child social media addiction.
