The only synagogue in Bloomington-Normal is in full preparation for the Jewish high holidays, a period of celebration and introspection over the course of two weeks.
Moses Montefiore Temple held their first service in Bloomington on Rosh Hashanah in 1882. Rabbi Rebecca Dubowe says the holidays are a chance for the community to come together, especially given the ongoing war in the Middle East.
