A new academic group at Illinois State University hopes to contribute to a growing body of research and practices that foster relationships between people of different generations.

Eight faculty members — seven from the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences and one from the Department of Geography, Geology, and the Environment — currently form the Center for Inclusive Intergenerational Environemtns (CIIE), which describes its mission as developing "meaningful relationships among people across generations, cultures, and abilities through inclusive social and physical environments."

A new academic community at ISU focuses on developing intergenerational relationships

Earlier this year, the water reclamation district [BNWRD] threatened disconnection and revocation of the wastewater discharge permit for Akshar, when the company didn't respond to questions about wastewater flowing into sewers. This also followed disputes with the City of Bloomington, an injunction to stop recycling, and hefty city fines.

BNWRD director Tim Ervin said Akshar has now complied with the majority of the orders and hopes to finish final items by the end of July.
