Advocates for people with disabilities fear potential 'devastating' consequences of new DOJ position

The DOJ issued a memo in June that argued states are not obligated to provide community-based care for people with disabilities. In July, DOJ officials went a step further indicating that they were changing the way they enforced the Americans with Disabilities Act. Rickielee Benecke, executive director of Life CIL, said these statements contradict settled law.
